How to breath

Breathing is the balance of inhaling oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide.

More than billions of breaths we inhale and exhale in a life span. How much breath is important it’s no need to explain because breathing is the life of a human being? Our body required oxygen to perform work and exhale carbon dioxide from the body is also an important activity of breathing.

Our body and mind required pure oxygen to work in a better way. The human body is the balance of five elements are Water, Air, Earth, Fire, and Space. In these five elements, the air is the most important requirement of the body.

Now, we see how inhaling balance the body. Human being has five types of health that are,

  1. Physical 2. Mental 3. Social 4. Emotional 5. Spiritual.

To maintain this health factor we have to practice breathing techniques. This technique is called Pranayama but before this, we should know how to take the breath, hold the breath and release the breath. Nostril breathing also maintains the temperature. Mouth breathing is not helpful in all cases.

What is inhaling?

Inhaling is the art of taking a breath, its increases and decreases the pulse rate. We can inhale through the nose or with the help of the mouth. Nostrils have hair that works as a filter. It also works in case of warm and humid air. 

What is Purak?

Purak is the starting technique of inhaling in the Pranayama. There are two types of breathing.

  1. Slow breathing (Normal Breathing)
  2. Fast breathing (Hyperventilation Breathing)

If a person breathes normally in a sitting and lying position without pulling up their shoulder that called normal and the best 360-degree breathing.

Fast breathing may be caused by fast sports activities and it’s can be caused by stress, the anxiety of Panic. These all conditions become very harmful for the body.

What is kumbhaka ?

The retention (Control) of the breath is called Kumbhaka. The breath can be controlled in two conditions that are,

  1. Inner Kumbhaka or Purak Kumbhaka (After inhale hold your breath).
  2. Outside Kumbhaka or Rechak Kumbhaka (After exhale hold your breath) .
  3. Kumbhaka with Bandha

Inner Kumbhaka or Purak Kumbhaka:-

To perform kumbhaka sit in any comfortable position. Inhale the breath with both Nostrils as much as possible. After this hold the breath according to your breath control capability then slowly-slowly exhales the breath with both nostrils. This timing of holding depends upon the practitioner.

Outside Kumbhaka or Rechak Kumbhka:-

 To perform kumbhaka sit in any comfortable position. Exhale the breath outside with both nostrils and then hold the breath according to your holding capacity. After this slowly – slowly exhale the breath.

Kumbhaka with Bandha:-

 To perform this Kumbhaka sit in any comfortable position.

  1. Inhale the breath.
  2. Hold your breath.
  3. Apply the Bandha (Jalandhar, Mula, Uddiyana Bandha.
  4. Open the bandha.
  5. Exhale air slowly-slowly.
  6. Relax for a while to close your eyes.

Antara Kumbhaka is also the technique used with Jalandhara bandha. In this technique Inhale with both nostrils to fullfill the air in the lungs (Full of Oxygen) and after this Jalandhara Bandha applied.

 

Ratio of Kumbhaka Pranayama.

  1. If the inhaling is 5 seconds then hold the breath for 10 seconds.
  2. It can increase every week with regular practice.
  3. A watch should in your hand when you increase timing
  4. Beginners can Practice Daily 5 rounds and for each round 30-second rest is necessary.

Benefits of Kumbhaka

  1. It improves the lungs breathing capacity.
  2. It provides strength to the diaphragm muscle.
  3. It’s improving control of the breath.
  4. It also helps to repair and maintain dead body cells.
  5. It’s increases energy in the body.
  6. It also increases the stamina of a person.

Precaution during Kumbhaka

  1. Beginners should learn the pranayama from Yogacharya.
  2. Don’t from after meal.
  3. Always perform in a relaxed position and without stress.
  4. Don’t try to get mastery in a day without regular practice.
  5. You should also be aware of the side effects of Kumbaka.

Side Effects of Kumbhaka Pranayama:-

If it’s wrongly practiced then there are so many side effects of Kumbhaka.

  1. It increases the pressure of blood so it should practice with a ratio.
  2. If the body muscle is weak then its practice leads to a hernia. Few muscles are weak from birth.
  3. Few people feel Vomiting and Dizziness feeling after practice.
  4. Few of them are given extra pressure on the head so which may cause headache issues after regular practice.
  5. It causes an uneasy feeling.

What is Rechaka Pranayama

What is Rechaka?

The meaning of the rechaka is exhalation. Exhalation is also a technique of pass out the carbon dioxide out from the body. The health of our mind and body depends upon the inhaling and exhaling technique.

How to Exhale Breath:-

  1. Exhale the breath very slowly with both nostrils.
  2. It should take minimum 12 seconds and lungs should completely empty.
  3. Breath exhaling depends upon the breath inhaling.
  4. When the breath exhale that time focus on the Agya chakra.
  5. After exhaling you can apply a kumbhaka for five seconds and then again inhale.
  6. This should be a cycle of 10 to 15 inhaling and exhaling breath.
  7. In kapalbhati Pranayama Rechak performed with a jerk and speed.
